Summary
NOW A MAJOR TELEVISION EVENT FROM NBC, STARRING RUSSELL HORNSBY, ARIELLE KEBBEL, AND MICHAEL IMPERIOLI.

Lincoln Rhyme, the quadriplegic detective made famous in The Bone Collector is back in a thriller from the masterful Jeffery Deaver. When a sadistic killer leaves clocks at his murder scenes, will time run out for the criminologist and his partner Amelia Sachs?

On a frigid December night, an eerie pattern emerges from two equally brutal murder scenes, where a killer’s calling card is a moon-faced clock that seemingly ticked away the victims’ last moments. From his wheelchair, criminologist Lincoln Rhyme tracks the Watchmaker, a time-obsessed genius. With every passing second, the Watchmaker is moving with razor-sharp precision to his next act of perfectly orchestrated violence—and Rhyme can’t afford to have his trusted partner Amelia Sachs distracted by a daunting homicide case of her own. Up against a brilliant madman, Rhyme and Sachs are locked in a blood-chilling race with their deadliest enemy: time itself.

Classic Lincoln Rhyme, lots of detail and layers. However, as an audiobook, I'm sorry to say, with no disrespect to Joe, Jeff Harding is a far stronger narrator. If you liked the content of the book, I recommend buying the Jeff Harding (aka Jack Reacher) audiobooks in this series and see for yourself.

Never read a Deaver novel. Finished with Cornwell and DeMille and Burke, needed someone else with forensic pathology details. Deaver fit the bill fine. First chapters dragged and it was hard to image the characters in my head, even though there were pages of details, almost to a fault. Eventually, 45 min in, I got it. As alluded to by other reviewers, this novel is PACKED with small details and many of them not of value. I love it myself, I want to know every hair and saliva report. Its a twisty little gem that I think will keep me into Deaver for a while. The ONLY thing I feel is a bit contrived (since I was also on the job for 15 yrs in Atlanta GA) is the fact that the #1 forensic expert is: A. ParaPalegic, B. Living in an apartment filled with equipment, C. Has police, suspects and perps in his said apartment rather than a precinct. Other than that, loved it.

It was my first time with this series and I liked it. It was not my most favorite but it was decent. I may try another one in the series.

This was an ok detective yarn however I really disliked and in fact skipped the many instances where the sleuth itemized ad nauseum what facts he had established to date.
