Unabridged Audiobook
It had me thinking all the way to the end!
This book is an excellent historical account of the chain of events leading up to what in hindsight seems obvious but at the time emotional optimism in the market blinded the uneducated masses into believing that their future fortunes were simply to hard to ignore that the market was extremely overpriced. The other interesting part of this analysis and true to life explanation is the main characters and institutional names are still currently part of the big players in Wall Street today and how easy it is to fluctuate and manipulate the stock prices behind the scenes in the market today just as it was in the 1920s. In 2026 it appears history will continue to repeat as the common denominators in human behavior is greed and fear which in the end keeps feeding the market. The narration was spot on and spoken with clarity where even a novice could comprehend the historical significance of this book. I recommend this book to anyone having any interest in investing in the stock market.
Makes sense and I see corruption then to current. How people ignore all the red flags
In some chapters too long-winded without necessary connection to story. Mr Sorkin sounds so much better on TV, especially in early parts a very boring sound.
Well done.
Exceptional account of the crisis, with first-rate narration by Mr. Sorkin. Thoroughly enjoyed it! It has also sparked my interest in learning more about that era and speculative behavior (in financial markets) that remains unchanged today.
This book it’s very well researched from original documents that Sorkin spent about five years researching. It’s a little scary because the way pressure was put on the Fed to lower interest rates is very similar to what President Trump is doing today. I think it’s a cautionary tale.
