While appreciative of the services the narrators are giving, the use of multiple narrators and their amateurs quality make this early work of J.Austen even more coarse. It's at times hard to connect who was doing what.

A witty and entertaining novel that cleverly plays with the conventions of Gothic fiction. Catherine Morland is a charming heroine, and I enjoyed her vivid imagination, curiosity and gradual growth as she navigates new friendships, romance and society. The satire of Gothic novels was especially fun, while the characters and social observations gave the story plenty of warmth.

Did not enjoy the book as much as I thought I would

Enjoyable and entertaining story. However, the use of multiple narrators, each of different skill/quality, detracts from the overall enjoyment of the book. In particular, chapter 4 has a poor technical quality, sounding hollow and distant. Chapter 5 is read by a narrator with a very heavy but pleasant sounding accent. The quality of the narration prevents me from truly enjoying this book.
